Thank you for exploring my tutoring website. I am a Washington-state certified teacher with 25+ years of tutoring experience including over two decades doing personalized tutoring as The Inquisitive Mind. I earned my BA in Education from Whitworth College and started a Masters in School Counseling at Seattle Pacific University before dedicating to start my own tutoring business.
Prior to opening The Inquisitive Mind in 1997, I provided tutoring and managerial services for two different tutoring centers in King and Snohomish counties. In addition to tutoring I have taught WASL-prep classes at the Denny Community Learning Center, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) classes, a Children's Literature Class and assisted one year with the Sealth Saturday tutorial.
I am experienced with many educational programs available to families that complement the regular school curriculum. Consultations with parents, teachers, school administrators, family counselors, academic therapists, vision therapists, and other specialists is frequently an integral element of the academic improvement strategy.
I have been an active participant and leader in the local Association of Professional Tutors since shortly after starting The Inquisitive Mind. Other sources of continuing education have included various seminars and conferences (ex. National Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference in St. Louis, multiple visits to the Northwest Mathematics Conference).
Via The Inquisitive Mind I intend to bring a unique combination of experience and knowledge in tutoring techniques and intervention strategies. I believe my personalized and caring attention to detail provides the opportunity for "inquisitive minds" to flourish.
